Cruel People Drive Pregnant Dog Away Right Before She’s Due to Deliver

On March 17th, Animal Rescue Of Anton received an urgent call concerning a pregnant dog in Coronado. This expectant mother had been abandoned just a few days ago, left to fend for herself. While some compassionate souls offered her food, many others shooed her away, forcing her to take refuge in a field alongside a bustling highway. The situation was dire, and the lives of both the pregnant canine and her unborn puppies hung in the balance.

A Glimpse of Hope

Fortunately, a kind-hearted lady spotted the distressed dog and wasted no time in seeking help from Animal Rescue Of Anton. The rescue team promptly arrived at the scene, approaching her with care. Although she attempted to escape, her fatigue slowed her down, and they were determined not to further distress her.

With gentle persistence, they followed her until she finally gave in, sinking to the ground. In a bid to coax her into safety, they offered her food. Their patience paid off as she cautiously entered the cage they had prepared. To their relief, she did not panic once inside.

Upon examination by the veterinarian, it was revealed that she was just days away from giving birth. An ultrasound provided more good news—her unborn puppies appeared healthy, numbering at least 10, although slightly smaller than usual.

There were other challenges to overcome; her hip was slightly misaligned, and she had a severe parasite infection. The first step was to remove all visible parasites and provide her with a thorough medicinal wash to prevent reinfestation. Remarkably, she remained calm and non-aggressive throughout the process.
